PRESIDENT SPEAKS

Dear NIPMians,

On this auspicious occasion of the 58th Republic Day of India, my greetings go to all of you, and to all members of the NIPM family.

On this solemn occasion, while pledging to serve our country and all our fellow citizens with devotion, we all at NIPM also must chart out our responsibilities for bringing out excellence in our field of knowledge and management.

I am privileged to have an opportunity to serve as National President for the year 2006-08, with your support. The collective strength gives me confidence that we can do a lot more. NIPM as a premier professional body has to carry forward the task of enhancing HR professionalism all over the country making significant contribution to the Knowledge Management.

During past five months, since I took over as National President, I had numerous opportunities of meeting and discussing, formally and informally several critical issues of development with large section of NIPMians.

It is, indeed, my privilege, that I find myself at centre of such a distinguished fraternity which has been keenly endeavoring to bring best practices in every task of personnel management for bringing better and professional business acumen.

The newly elected National Council(NC) is committed to achieve this objective. In this regard certain initiatives have been taken and many more are being deliberated.

It has been decided that the National Council meetings should be held in various Chapters of different regions so that more and more NlPMians get an opportunity to be a part of the highest decision making forum and its deliberations.

A new state of art website www.nipm.in has been hosted which is more interactive, value adding and easily accessible to all its members. This should enhance and increase the speed of communication among the members, chapters and the national office.

The NC shall have the benefit of views and opinions of professionals, eminent people as special invitees in decision making. The committees are being revamped to make them focused and cohesive.

Their recommendations and suggestions have to be time bound and should facilitate faster decision making. Actions are in hand to resolve the matter with the AICTE for the PGDPM course.

We have decided to hold the Annual National Conference to be held at Trivendrum in September 2007. The National office would ensure complete support to facilitate success of the conference.

The Conference themes and speakers would be finalized shortly. Regions are being advised to hold regular Regional Meetings and plan activities in collaboration with each other. The Western Regional conference held on 19-20 January 2007 at Aurangabad on the theme “HR — Perspectives for the New Era” was a great success

The active participation of all members and chapters in knowledge sharing, which I have been noticing while reviewing various Activities and Meetings, being organized at different places, fills me with immense hope that NIPM is on right path of achieving status amongst top institutes of excellence in the country.

However there is urgent need to professionalize our own administration of the Institute to bring in modern best practices for achieving international stature.

I invite all NIPMians to email me at president@nipm.in all your ideas and suggestion which I intend to expressly discuss for implementation with National Council by end of next month. We need to move at quicker pace now.
NIPM has its code of ethics which is remarkable. We need to have a clearly defined Vision and Mission statement as guiding principle in our all activities. We hope that this assignment would be completed shortly.

Friends, let us take membership drive initiative for enrolling more professionals in the NIPM forum. At the same time let us ensure that the existing member continue to remain active, contribute effectively and pay their subscriptions in time.

All chapters must ensure that they have the annual calendar ready in time so that the conferences and other activities can be taken care in better way. The dormant chapters need to be revitalized and brought into the activity fold soon.

As a professional body NIPM should also pursue research projects with various organizations and corporates.
Value creation in the society will enhance the brand image of NIPM and give all of us a sense of satisfaction.

We have the will, the professional competence and desire to move ahead faster. Let us do it.

I am confident that, this day, all of my fellow NlPMians will join me in pledging ourselves to growth and prosperity for India through our efforts.

Jai Hind.
